My boys, like most preschoolers, LOVE stickers. When you give a sticker to Hayden, he will feel the sticky side, stick it to himself, stick it to me, stick it to anything else he encounters, until the sticky side looses its stick.
Ethan’s sticker strategy is a little different. When you give him a sticker, he immediately goes into the hall between the coat closet and the bathroom and sticks his sticker to the wall. He then goes back and admires his sticker collection several times throughout the day.
I realize that sticking stickers on the wall is not the best option for storing and viewing stickers, so I was delighted when I ran across this DIY: Sticker Book blog post over at the Frugal Family Fun Blog.
In four easy steps, Ethan now has a sticker book and the wall can be freed from stickers.
- Find an old greeting card. I used one that I received years ago from the World Wildlife Fund as part of a fundraising campaign.
- Cut wax paper pages for the sticker book. I made a template a little smaller than my card and used it to cut 15 pages for the sticker book.
- Insert the pages into the card and bind. I lined the wax paper sheets up, and inserted them into the card. I then closed the card around the wax paper pages and stapled three times along the edge of the card to bind it all together into a book.
- Add stickers. I then showed the sticker book to Ethan and how he could stick the stickers to the page and remove them. We also removed the beautiful sticker display from the wall.
